(Work in Progress) Some photos on my random observations and street photography in New York City as I continue my journey there.
Expensive City
New York is expensive. Like… very so terribly extremely expensive with an exclamation mark.
One of my colleague was looking for a place to live for a short term, and it took her a load of efforts to be able to find an old apartment that demands $2000+ per month. “Oh,” the lady at the front desk of the apartment toured us around said casually, “this building is pre-war.”

And I could tell. From the lack of an elevator to narrow stairs that curls inward due to decades of people stepping on it, all I need to make a picture look like it was taken before colored photography is a black-and-white filter. But my colleague was super happy, because she finally found a place with a relatively “reasonable” price tag to live in the city for a short while.
Why is New York, or more precisely Manhattan, so expensive? Do New Yorkers make a ton of money to pay for their expensive livings?

Naively, one would assume for street performers, instruments that are portable wins. Until I heard Bach’s Well Tempered Clavier elegantly played by a young musician in Central Park.

“Street Photography” usually is done in a public place such as a street, sidewalk or park involving candid images of people going about their daily lives. This type of photography is permitted in the U.S. under the legal premise established by the Supreme Court that there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public place. (Osterreicher)
